The society was formed in 1935 by 20 members (see
photo) and over the years the society as had a few different meeting places.
At the present time we meet at Old Brumby United Church Hall Ashby Road.
(Formally St. Marks Church.)
The first
Wednesday of the month at 7.30pm. We also have a 5" & 31/2" raised
track at Normanby Hall Country Park on the outskirts of Scunthorpe.
The founder members of the Scunthorpe Society of Model
Engineers. 1935. At the opening of the first society workshop.
The track is open most Sunday
afternoons and all Bank holiday Mondays during the summer and gives rides to
the public at only 20p. Also during the summer a number of specials are run
for school party's that are visiting the Hall & country park.
Most Tuesday's through out the year there is a working party
to do running repairs & improvements to the track & site. Also a lot of
talking and tea drinking takes place during the afternoons
and all members are welcome.
